Human Rights Commission
Honorable delegates of the Human Rights Commission,
It is both a profound honor and a privilege to welcome you all to AMMUN XXIV as the President of the Human Rights Commission. My very first experience as a delegate was right here in the human rights Commission, and it left a lasting impression on me. The debates, the diverse perspectives, and the AMMUN spirit that I encountered in this committee ignited my passion for MUN and set me on the path that has brought me here today.
The Human Rights commission holds a unique and vital role within the United Nations. It is a forum where justice, dignity, and equality converge, and where international communities gather to safeguard the fundamental rights of all people. This year’s conference them ‘Deliberate to Liberate,’ calls us to reflect with intention and act with purpose, reminding us that true freedom and progress are achieved through thoughtful effort. As delegates of this commission, you are tasked to not only discuss human rights but explore how to transform debates into action that can truly make a difference in people’s lives.
Over the course of the three-day conference, you will engage with three current pressing issues. International Court of Justice
Honorable Advocates and Judges of the International Court of Justice,
It is with immense honor that I welcome you to this year’s esteemed AMMUN XXIV conference. Serving as President of the ICJ is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. As judges and advocates, you are entrusted with the vital task of holding nations accountable to international law, while navigating the intricacies and nuances of justice on the global stage. In turn, each member will unlock a voice whose potential for impact they may have never realized.
At AMMUN XXIV, the ICJ will be a platform that fosters critical thinking, diplomacy, and profound awareness of the global issues we face today. Together, we will strive to uphold justice through meaningful debate and collaboration.
Over the course of the three-day conference, you will deliberate on the LaGrand (Germany v. United States of America) case, a landmark dispute that continues to shape our understanding of international justice. This case examines the fundamental notions of fairness, accountability, and state responsibility within the global community. Through careful exploration of the arguments from both sides, you will engage with broader themes of diplomacy, human rights, and the rule of law. These concepts transcend a single case, and lie at the heart of the pursuit of justice and peace worldwide.
This year’s AMMUN XXIV conference theme ‘Deliberate to Liberate’ adeptly aligns with the mission and role of the International Court of Justice. The ICJ serves as the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, holding the responsibility of peacefully settling disputes between states in accordance with international law. In doing so, the Court embodies the very essence of deliberate reasoning by carefully weighing arguments and evidence in order to liberate nations from political dilemmas, injustice, and uncertainty. Ultimately, this theme underscores the extent to which thoughtful deliberation within the Court paves the way for lasting peace on the international scale.
As President of the ICJ, I am looking forward to seeing what each of you brings to the table. Whether this is your first court experience or not, I have full faith in your ability to make meaningful contributions through active participation in arguments, debates, and thoughtful decision-making. The chairing panel and I are committed to creating an environment that supports you in this process, guiding you as you work together to ensure that justice is served through a fair verdict.
Best of luck to all of you, and again, welcome to AMMUN XXIV.
Raya Alami
President of the International Court of Justice
International Criminal Court
Honorable delegates of the International Criminal Court,
It is my honor to welcome you to AMMUN XXIV and to the International Criminal Court. Whether this is your first time stepping into the ICC or your return with experience from previous conferences, your presence here represents a commitment to justice, fairness, and truth. In today’s world, a world plagued by devastating atrocities, the act of gathering to deliberate acts as a symbolic stance against impunity and an affirmation that the pursuit of justice is a path to liberation.
Unlike other committees in AMMUN, the ICC does not simply discuss broad policy or draft resolutions. Here, we deal with individuals and their responsibility for despicable crimes that strike at the heart of humanity. Advocates must be precise, eloquent, and steadfast in presenting their arguments, while Judges carry the grave responsibility of ensuring that every verdict reflects fairness, reason, and justice. Both roles are vital to upholding the integrity of this court.
The conference theme, “Deliberate to Liberate,” heavily intertwines with the central motives of the ICC. Deliberation, when careful, precise, and grounded in integrity, is the cornerstone of justice, as through it objectivity may be discerned, accountability may be assigned, and thus justice can be served. Liberty stands as a consequence of deliberation: the unbounding of victims from silence, the freeing of societies from patterns of violence, and the liberation of humanity from impunity. Every speech, every objection, and every verdict in this chamber contributes to that mission.
This year, we approach “The Prosecutor v. Min Aung Hlaing.” This case challenges us to confront questions of accountability at the highest level, involving issues of human rights, crimes against humanity, and the responsibility of leaders toward their people.
I encourage each of you, advocates and judges alike, to embrace this opportunity fully. Speak with conviction, listen with openness, and deliberate with patience. This committee serves for you to showcase your abilities and grow into sharper thinkers and stronger leaders. My chairing panel and I will be here every step of the way to support and guide you, ensuring that your experience in the ICC is both challenging and rewarding.
I look forward to meeting all of you soon. May your deliberations in this court serve not only as practice, but as a vision of a world where justice liberates.
With great anticipation,
Amjad Marji
President of the International Criminal Court
Security Council
Dear esteemed delegates of the Security Council,
I am incredibly pleased to welcome every Security Council delegate to the AMMUN XXIV conference, whether coming from abroad or 5 minutes away. We’re excited to hear the unique insights of everyone. Throughout this conference, we will be working to find solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of our day by working together and taking into account the unique policies of each of your delegations. You have a unique chance to not only passively listen to these issues but work to find tangible solutions. Being actively involved in the affairs of the world is much more helpful than passively hearing about them, which is a chance offered to you by this committee.
AMMUN’s theme this year, “Deliberate to Liberate,” is closely connected to the goals of the Security Council. Through collaboration as a collective, the committee can work to help promote liberty across the world; moreover, many of the issues we will be discussing stem from a lack of patience and deliberation before making decisions, leading to such catastrophic problems. Therefore, the Security Council provides us with a mechanism for positive change in our world.
Choosing only three topics was difficult, but I’m confident they’ll be conducive to all types of debate; moreover, they are some of the most pressing issues of our time, yet some do lack major mainstream attention. Firstly, we will be discussing the M23 offensive into the Eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, secondly, the Myanmar civil war, which has coalesced into seemingly its final and most brutal stages, and finally, the militarization of the Arctic affecting our ecosystem and geopolitics for generations to come.
As president of the Security Council, my chairing panel and I are very excited to provide a productive debate environment for all delegates, where fiery speeches can change minds and resolutions shape the future. I hope each and every one of you, regardless of what you may perceive of your country’s importance , can leave your mark.
I wish you all well, and I am excited for the 15 of you to join us at AMMUN XXIV!
Laith Al-Wir

Third General Assembly
Respectable delegates of the Third General Assembly,
It is my utmost privilege and pleasure to offer you a warm welcome as you gather for the prestigious AMMUN XXIV conference. Your attendance at this forum of discussion and exchange reflects your interest in addressing some of the world’s most imperative issues today.
Throughout the AMMUN conference, you will be able to engage in reflective discussion, share various viewpoints, and collaborate in the spirit of diplomats to develop effective resolutions. As the representatives of the GA3, you are officially required to carry the values of the United Nations while addressing matters that bear most directly on civilian life, human rights, and the promotion of equality.
The theme for the year, “Deliberate to Liberate,” particularly connects with the General Assembly’s mission. It’s a call to remember that through thoughtful discussion and collective thinking, we can find the keys to liberation and freedom and equality. More than anywhere, GA3 is a space where discussion becomes the instrument of liberation—liberation from oppression and conflict and inequality.
During the conference, you will be debating three key areas: how to eliminate child labor in South Asia, how to gauge the civilian cost of the Russia–Ukraine war, and how to move in the direction of gender equality in the rights of Latin American laboring people. All three areas call not just for rational judgement but also compassion, innovation, and genuine regard for fairness.
Let me assure you through my position as President of GA3 that the chairing panel and I are committed to ensuring you have a platform to be heard, your ideas be fostered, and your diplomacy be at its fullest.
Once again, welcome to AMMUN XXIV. Let us deliberate to liberate—and together, make this conference both impactful and unforgettable.
