Leadership

Secretary General

Zaid Arafah

My MUN journey began in sixth grade when I joined the mini-MUN club and heard about what made AMMUN truly special. Representing Lebanon in the Institutional Corruption Panel opened my eyes to what this conference stands for — a space where young people engage in meaningful dialogue, tackle global challenges, and craft real solutions through diplomacy and collaboration.

Walking into my first committee, I was nervous and unsure of my voice. But by the second day, I was debating confidently, amending resolutions, and even main-submitting one written with my team. The moment I presented it — and saw it spark discussion — I realized that I could make a real impact. That experience shaped my passion for MUN and my belief in AMMUN’s mission.

Now, as Secretary-General of AMMUN XXIV, I aim to empower delegates to become bold thinkers and compassionate leaders. I look forward to hearing your ideas, witnessing your debates, and ensuring this year’s conference is our most inspiring and impactful yet.

In a world still grappling with destruction in Lebanon, the ongoing devastation in Palestine, and countless other crises, it’s easy to forget that these struggles are not new — they are the echoes of decades-long histories shaping our region and our humanity. My engagement with global affairs and diplomacy grew not from sudden outrage but from years of reflection, awareness, and a desire to understand these complex narratives.

Living amidst regional conflict and humanitarian injustice, I found that staying informed through local media, advocacy, and grassroots movements was not enough — action was essential. Model United Nations became that outlet. It offered a platform where passionate students could debate, collaborate, and channel concern into meaningful dialogue and problem-solving.

My MUN journey has come full circle — from my first experience as a delegate in the Human Rights Commission, to serving as its President, and now as Deputy Secretary-General of AMMUN XXIV. I look forward to working with you all to make this year’s conference a space of purpose, empathy, and lasting impact.

Head of Debate

Mazin Ayass

I never imagined I’d develop a passion for debate — yet in eighth grade, AMMUN completely changed that. The year before, I’d only brushed past what MUN was, unaware of the impact it would have on me in the years to come.

My first conference, held during the pandemic, was a turning point. As a delegate in the Third General Assembly (GA3), I encountered crises and conflicts I’d never even heard of — humanitarian struggles that rarely make the headlines but shape the lives of millions. That experience not only sparked my love for debate but also deepened my awareness of global issues and my commitment to advocacy and dialogue.

Now, as Head of Debate for AMMUN XXIV, I have the privilege of working with a team as passionate and driven as I once was. Together, we aim to create a conference that is both inspiring and transformative — one that challenges delegates to think critically, speak fearlessly, and leave AMMUN with a renewed sense of purpose.

Head of Debate

Qassem Tabba

My journey with AMMUN began long before I ever entered a committee room. As the youngest in my family, I grew up watching my older siblings immerse themselves in MUN, their passion leaving a lasting impression. Encouraged — perhaps even persuaded — by my parents to follow in their footsteps, I soon discovered that AMMUN was far more than an extracurricular. It became a space to challenge myself, explore global issues, and grow into a confident speaker and critical thinker.

Over the years, AMMUN became a defining part of my school life. Not everything always went my way — whether it was missing out on a speech, a preferred committee, or a leadership role — but I always walked away proud, fulfilled, and inspired. Those minor setbacks faded quickly beside what truly mattered: the debates, the friendships, and the shared purpose that define AMMUN. Each conference reminded me that MUN is not about recognition, but about growth, collaboration, and perspective.

Now, as Head of Debate for AMMUN XXIV, my goal is to create that same transformative experience for others. I want every delegate to feel heard, valued, and challenged to think deeply and speak boldly. AMMUN is about growth, resilience, and connection — and I hope this year’s conference leaves every participant with lessons and memories that last long after the final gavel falls.

Head of Organizing

Jana Zurub

My AMMUN journey began in eighth grade, encouraged by my siblings who had already fallen in love with MUN. Watching them command the stage with confidence and passion, delivering speeches and leading conferences, I knew I wanted to be part of that world.

At first, I found the early sessions exhausting and even considered stepping away — but after attending my first full conference, everything changed. The experience challenged me, inspired me, and helped shape the person I am today. Through every debate and resolution, I grew more confident in my voice, sharpened my leadership, and discovered a lasting passion for diplomacy and collaboration.

Over four years, I climbed the ranks — from delegate to chair, from chair to president — and now proudly serve as Head of Organizing on the leadership team. It’s an honor to help bring AMMUN XXIV to life, and I’m committed to making it our most unforgettable conference yet.

I can’t wait to meet you all and witness the incredible ideas, energy, and spirit that make AMMUN what it is.

Head of Organizing

Ghalia Nasser Al-Oun

I joined AMMUN in eighth grade, unsure of what to expect but eager to take on a new challenge. From my very first training session, I was captivated by the intellect, diplomacy, and energy that defined the conference. What began as curiosity quickly grew into passion — I found myself inspired by the chairs, engaged by the debates, and determined to return each year stronger and more confident.

Over time, I was drawn to the International Court of Justice and other legal committees, where I discovered a deep interest in law and justice. These experiences not only honed my research and public speaking skills but also shaped my leadership and inspired my future ambitions. AMMUN became more than just a conference — it became a platform for growth, purpose, and genuine connection.

Now, as Head of Organizing for AMMUN XXIV, I’m honored to help create that same experience for others. My goal is not only to ensure the conference runs seamlessly, but to make it memorable — a space where delegates feel empowered to speak up, challenge themselves, and embrace the collaborative spirit that defines AMMUN. It’s a full-circle moment, and I’m proud to give back to a community that has given me so much.

Rapporteur of Organizing

Faisal Hantouli

When I first joined AMMUN, I didn’t realize how deeply it would shape me. What began as a simple attempt to improve my public speaking and diplomacy skills quickly became something far more meaningful. AMMUN became a space where I learned to listen, lead, and grow — surrounded by people from diverse backgrounds who shared the same drive to make a difference.

My journey has been one of steady transformation. From nervously raising my placard in my first committee to serving as a delegate, chair, and eventually president, each role taught me something new about leadership, responsibility, and collaboration. Along the way, I discovered not only my voice but also the joy of helping others find theirs.

Now, as Rapporteur of Organizing for AMMUN XXIV, my goal is to help create a conference that challenges, inspires, and empowers every delegate. I want each participant to leave with more than just refined skills — to walk away with confidence, perspective, and a renewed belief in their ability to lead and create change.

Rapporteur of Debate

Lamah Nabulsi

Growing up in Jordan, I was constantly aware of the political unrest that shapes life across the Middle East. From family discussions to community conversations and the media, I became deeply conscious of the injustices faced by so many — and that awareness sparked a lasting curiosity about the political world and the power of dialogue.

That curiosity led me to join the mini-MUN club in sixth grade. Although my journey was briefly interrupted by the pandemic, I returned with greater determination. I still remember my hands shaking before my first delegate interview and the rush of delivering my first speech on the immigration crisis — a mix of fear and exhilaration that cemented my passion for MUN.

Now, as Rapporteur of Debate for AMMUN XXIV, I carry with me the lessons of every conference and committee I’ve been part of. I’ve learned that staying informed is just the beginning — real change happens when we engage, challenge ideas, and collaborate. My goal this year is to help create a conference that deepens discussions, inspires delegates and chairs alike, and leaves every participant more confident and connected than when they arrived.
